Wow! Check this. Rikomatic reports that "The Knight Foundation recently announced that they are launching a new $5 million fund for innovative community journalism in cyberspace"

HUDs to the ready! :))

I wonder what the entry limitations are? For example, is this a 'global' offer outside the USA?

Whatever it is, and whoever's ideas they enable, this is a GOOOOD thing. ;)

This appears to be open to anyone to apply from anywhere in the world. However I believe they are not interested in supporting "virtual communities" as much as "real communities." I.e. a local school board, a particular ethnic group, a neighborhood association, etc.
