Here are the basics of my first ever DAV sign. Yes, it's pretty rough and yes, of all the things you could build in 2nd LIfe, why an ordinary sign? It doesn't even touch what 2nd Life can really do - bring people an immersive experience. However, I am happy I got it pretty easily.
